Voorhees, NJ, October 31, 2019 – Jefferson Health’s New Jersey hospitals, in Cherry Hill, Stratford, and Washington Township, have earned a place in the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association roster of hospitals recognized for achievement in its Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke healthcare quality program. The list of award-winning hospitals appears in a 2019 U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" issue congratulatory ad.
Earlier this year, each Jefferson NJ hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke: Gold Plus Achievement Award, recognizing their commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
Additionally, Jefferson Washington Township Hospital — a NJ state-designated Comprehensive Stroke Center — received the Target-Stroke: Honor Roll Elite Plus Award, while Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital and Jefferson Stratford Hospital both received the Target-Stroke: Honor Roll Elite Award. To qualify, these hospitals met quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA — the gold standard treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke.
“These stroke care recognitions, and our inclusion in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report congratulatory ad, demonstrates Jefferson’s high commitment to following the guidelines and improving outcomes for patients in southern New Jersey,” says Jefferson (NJ) Stroke Program Director Kathryn Donley, BSN, RN, CCRN-K, CNRN. "We know how valuable evidence-based care is to our stroke patients. Everyone at our hospitals is proud to be recognized, and are appreciative of the support and tools provided through Get With The Guidelines."
