WORCESTER, MA (11/20/2019)-- The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Brianna Capacchione, of Sewell, has earned a spot on the 2019-20 Women's Rhak3q1o2ov89tq3Basketball team.

The team, who finished the last season with a 14-14 record, was selected fifth in the Northeast Division of the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The team's 2019-20 captains Brianna Capacchione '20, Brittani LeBlanc '20, and Katherine Golden '20, were important pieces for the team last year: Capacchione was one of the top scorers averaging 9.6 points per game, Leblanc helped run the point guard position and was the second leader in assists per game, while Golden was one of the leading three-point shooters.

"I believe our three seniors, complemented by talent from the rest of the roster, will lead this year's team to great things," said Kerry Phayre, who is in her 24th season as head coach of the Women's Basketball team. "Each of our captains brings a unique leadership quality to the team, and they will serve as excellent role models to the rest of the team. All of our players have a work ethic and a belief in being a team player. Our athletes worked extremely hard in the preseason, both on the court and in the classroom, and we are looking forward to seeing what this season will bring."
