Route 322/Swedesboro Road to be closed this weekend in Woolwich

Signed detours will be in place

 

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the weekend closure of Route 322/Swedesboro Road in both directions between Paulsboro Road and Tomlin Station Road as the Route Traffic alert 1322/Swedesboro Road CR 551/Kings Highway intersection improvement project advances in Woolwich, Gloucester County.

Beginning at 8 p.m., tonight, Friday, October 11, until 8 p.m., Monday, October 14, NJDOT’s contractor, R.E. Pierson, will close Route 322/Swedesboro Road in both directions between Paulsboro Road and Tomlin Station Road in Woolwich to complete a full box reconstruction of the westbound lane of the roadway between Garwin Road and CR 551/Kings Highway.  A full reconstruction of the eastbound lane was completed last weekend.  Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses. The following signed detours will be in place:

Route 322/Swedesboro Road Eastbound

  • Motorists wishing to travel eastbound on Route 322/Swedesboro Road will be directed to turn right onto Paulsboro Road
  • Turn left onto CR 551/Kings Highway
  • Turn right onto Back Creek Road, which becomes Woodland Avenue
  • Turn left onto Tomlin Station Road
  • Turn right onto Route 322/Swedesboro Road eastbound

Route 322/Swedesboro Road Westbound

  • Motorists wishing to travel westbound on Route 322/Swedesboro Road will be directed to turn left onto Tomlin Station Road
  • Turn right onto Woodland Avenue, which becomes Back Creek Road
  • Turn left onto CR 551/Kings Highway
  • Turn right onto Paulsboro Road
  • Turn left onto Route 322/Swedesboro Road westbound

The southbound lane of CR 551/Kings Highway between the Route 322/Swedesboro Road intersection and Garwin Road will reopen at 8 p.m. Monday, October 14 following the completion of this phase of construction.  The northbound lane of CR 551/Kings Highway will be closed at the intersection of Route 322/Swedesboro Road for approximately one month.  Northbound traffic and motorists wishing to access the Kingsway Regional High School and middle school will need to utilize the following signed detour:

CR 551/Kings Highway northbound

  • Motorists wishing to travel northbound on Route 551/Kings Highway will be directed to turn right onto Route 322/Swedesboro Road
  • Turn left onto Tomlin Station Road
  • Turn right onto CR 551/Kings Highway northbound

When work is complete on CR 551/Kings Highway, additional lanes will be added on Route 322/Swedesboro Road in the vicinity of the intersection.  NJDOT will provide advance notice before any additional lane closures or detours are implemented as a part of this $5.6 million federally-funded project.
