SILVER SPRING, MD (October 14, 2019)--Police Officer Thomas Bomba was shot and killed while confronting a subject who was acting disorderly on the top floor of a parking garage in the 800 block of Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring.

He contacted dispatch just before 8:50 am about the subject. A backup officer found him suffering from a gunshot wound several minutes later. He was flown to Washington MedStar Hospital Center where he succumbed to his wounds.

The subject remains at large.

Officer Bomba had served with the Montgomery County Police Department for 13 years. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
