NORTH WILDWOOD, NJ -(October 30, 2019)—Charles C. Bakely, of North Wildwood passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 87. Charlie was born and raised in Gloucester City. After graduating from Gloucester High School, Class of 1951, he served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Bakely and family lived in Westville for a time where he served on the Westville Borough Council as a Republican under Mayor Harry V. Laskowski in the early 1970's. Sara Martino, who was active in the Westville Republican Club  remembered Bakely as being very personable with a warm smile. "He was active in several community organizations, and good friends with former Mayor Chuck Owens, who was also raised in Gloucester City."

Charlie was a long-time Ironworker and a member of Philadelphia Ironworkers Local Union #401.  He owned an iron fabricating business in Westville for many years. He and his wife also lived in Wenonah before moving to North Wildwood.  He enjoyed fishing, boating and life at the shore. He was a member of the Ray Ford’s Old-timers, Gloucester City, the Gloucester City Memorial AA, and Sportsmen AC. 

Survived by his wife of 59 years Regina (nee) Pettolina and daughter Regina DeWitt ( Bert); Sons Charles Jr. ( Maria) and Andrew. Granddaughter Regina Bakely and Grandson Shane DeWitt. 

Brothers George ( Judy), Jack and Joe. Sisters Margaret Morency, Marion Bennett, Myrtle Barber and Carol Elenbark ( Bill).

Services were private under the direction of the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave, North Wildwood, NJ 08260.  Condolences may be made at ingersollgreenwoodfh.com.
