ASSISTED DYING BILL WILL GO INTO EFFECT ON THURSDAY

On Thursday, the state's "Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill" law will go into effect. The much-debated measure is a win for those who say terminally ill patients deserve to "die with dignity" via life-ending medication prescribed by a doctor. NEWARK'S UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME PILOT INCHES CLOSER

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka just announced new details about the city's plans to test out a universal basic income program. The pilot will likely happen, though there are few details at this point. The Guaranteed Income Task Force had its first meeting last week. City officials said it will meet again in September. Then, it will release a report with its findings some time after that. MEADOWLANDS CONCERNS EMERGENCY RESPONDERS

American Dream Meadowlands will likely attract about double the number of people who packed MetLife Stadium for the 2014 Super Bowl every day — and that event led to legendary transit delays.
