TRENTON, NJ (Gloucestercitynews.net) (June 13, 2019)--Lawmakers say they have a plan to fix New Jersey's fiscal crisis, restore the stability of the pension system and save tens of billions of dollars for taxpayers. NJ Senate President Steve Sweeney, Sens. Paul Sarlo and Steve Oroho and Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald  unveiled a package of "Path to Progress" bills designed to create real, sustainable tax relief, they say, according to the news blog The Patch New Jersey. 

CLOSING 300 SCHOOLS--Their plan would fix the state's fiscal crisis, restore the stability of the pension system and save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars  That plan would also wipe out nearly 300 school districts.  Some of those districts in the immediate South Jersey area include:

The median teacher salary in New Jersey last year was $68,650, according to a New Jersey 101.5 analysis of Department of Education data.

More than a third of all public school teachers earn more than the statewide median household income of $76,475. And about 8% of teachers earn salaries that top $100,000.
