WOODBURY, NJ--Kevin Van Pelt (29 year old male) has been criminally charged by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office with Luring, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault after a two- month long investigation conducted in close cooperation with the Woolwich Township Police Department.
Van Pelt was arrested at his residence in Lakehurst, New Jersey on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, with the assistance of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Lakehurst Police Department. He is detained at the Salem County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance in Gloucester County Superior Court, Woodbury, New Jersey on Thursday, May 2, 2019.
Investigation disclosed that Van Pelt met the 14 year old victim online and subsequently engaged in conversation via Snapchat and Instagram where he attempted to arrange a meeting with her for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts.
