Howard A. Shomo Jr. Bellmawr, age 65; Police Officer & Volunteer Fireman

(gloucestercitynews.net)(May 28, 2019)--Howard A. Shomo, Jr., 65, of Bellmawr passed away Monday, May 20, 2019. He started his career in law enforcement with the Brooklawn Police Department as a Police Officer Obits 6 where he went on to Westville Police Department, retiring as Sergeant after 26 years of service.

As teenager and early adulthood he was a volunteer firefighter with Niagara Fire Company in Merchantville. Later he went on to be a volunteer firefighter with the Westville Fire Company, and also became involved in the Westville Lions Club. He spent great deal of time volunteering at Westville Little League where he held many positions, including being a coach on his boy's teams. Through the years he provided inspiration and guidance to those who crossed his path, and was always willing to lend a hand or be there in a time of need. Howard enjoyed playing his guitar, playing softball, fishing, horseback riding, being outdoors, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. As his grandchildren began to play sports, he enjoyed watching them and taking in the moment.

Survived by his wife Susan; children, Howard A. Shomo, III (Michelle) and Michael R. Shomo (Lisa); his grandchildren Alexa, Addison, Levi, and Kaleb. Also by a brother, Steven Shomo (Monica); sister, Terrie Fasbinder (Stephen); nephews Stephen Cianchetti and Steven Shomo; and nieces Tori Shomo and Lauren Cianchetti. Howard was predeceased by his parents, Howard A. Shomo Sr. and Lorraine Shomo (Johnson).

Family and Friends are invited to visit Thursday, May 30th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 pm.
