Gloucester Catholic Rams South Jersey Champs

    UPDATED

BROOKLAWN, NJ-- (Gloucestercitynews.net)(May 31, 2019)--Gloucester Catholic defeated Trenton Catholic 10-0 in the South Jersey Championship Game today at the Joe Barth Field, Brooklawn, NJ. Today's victory was the team's seventh straight win. Offensively they have been on fire at the plate having scored a total of 85 runs which includes today's result. The Rams Anthony Solometo was on the mound and his control of the ball was nearly perfect. He looked strong throughout the day. His fastball was hitting 90 mph according to a scout who was clocking him.

The Rams, who are the reigning 2-year champions, will defend their state title on Wednesday, June 5 at 7 PM. at DeMeo Field at Veterans Park in Hamilton. They will face St. Mary of Rutherford the North Jersey, Non-Public B winner. Gloucester Catholic’s 2019 graduation is being held that same day. There was a concern the seniors on the team would have to decide whether to play for the state title or stay home and graduate. Since the game won’t be played until 7 PM that problem should be solved.
