Williamstown Man Charged with Strict Liability Drug Death

WOODBURY, NJ (Gloucestercitynews.net)(May 31, 2019)--Justin J. Osterdahl (DOB: 9-1-89), of Williamstown, New Jersey, was arrested on Wednesday, May 28th on charges that he sold Heroin laced with the powerful painkiller Fentanyl to a 27-year-old Monroe Township New Jersey man, resulting in the man’s death on January 29, 2019. The fatality was investigated by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit. Also assisting with the investigation were the Monroe Township Police Department, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department, and the Gloucester County Probation Department. Coast Guard urges preparedness for 2019 hurricane season

MIAMI — (Gloucestercitynews.net)(May 31, 2019)--The Coast Guard reminds the public and mariners to prepare for the 2019 hurricane season. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, with the peak occurring between mid-August and late October. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a 40% chance of a near-normal season, a 30% chance of an above-normal season and a 30% chance of a below-normal season. Mt. Laurel Woman Sentenced to 5 Years for Crash that Killed Husband

BURLINGTON, NJ (Gloucestercitynews.net)(May 31, 2019)--Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a Mount Laurel woman was sentenced today to five years in New Jersey state prison for causing the death of her husband in late 2017 after the car she was driving left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned in a wooded area in Delran. Tameka Lawson, 38, must serve 85 percent of the term before becoming eligible for parole under conditions imposed by the Hon. Gerard H. Breland, J.S.C. Lawson pled guilty in March to one count of Vehicular Homicide (Second Degree) as well as a motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated. The State had requested a 7-year prison sentence. A Shooting Threat Closes Winslow High School

UPDATE: Today, at approximately 12 noon, Winslow Middle School Administration notified Winslow Police that they had recovered an air-soft handgun at the Middle School. Officers and Detectives responded back to the Middle School and met with school personnel and a 12y/o male, juvenile in the office. The school personnel turned over a BB handgun, that they had recovered from the juvenile. Upon completion of the investigation, the juvenile was charged and processed for false public alarms and possession of a handgun. Authorities Suspend Search for Plane that Crashed in Ocean near Cape May

CAPE MAY, N.J. —(Gloucestercitynews.net)— The Coast Guard suspended their search for a missing pilot Wednesday evening, which began when a single-engine airplane was seen crashing into the water near Cape May Point, just before noon. The Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police, Cape May Fire Department, Cape May Police, Beach Patrol and Sea Tow all contributed to search efforts on shore, air and sea. Boats and aircraft saturated the surface as divers from the fire department and state police searched below the surface. Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders were notified of the incident shortly after the plane crashed and dispatched two boat crews from Station Cape May, a helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City and the Coast Guard Cutter Hammerhead. The channel extends from Rehoboth Bay to Indian River Bay around the eastern side of the island known as Lynch’s Thicket. The entrance to Baker’s Channel in Rehoboth Bay between Channel Marker 1 and the gate at Markers 3 and 4 is very shallow at low tide. There is only about 1.5 feet of water at low tide for boaters to navigate. To avoid ending a boating voyage on Delaware waterways when boaters are found without legally-required life jackets, officers will have loaner life jackets in sizes Infant to Adult XL onboard their patrol vessels for the public to borrow and return. Delaware law requires all vessel owners/operators to carry a readily-accessible, properly-sized life jacket for each person onboard, and that all children 12 years old and younger aboard a vessel of any type wear a life jacket while the vessel is underway. K9 Eli Gwinnett County Police Department, Georgia End of Watch Thursday, May 23, 2019 K9 Eli, a 9-year-old male Belgian Malinois died after suffering heat exhaustion while tracking a fleeing suspect in the area of North Crestview Drive SW and Grayson Parkway at approximately 3:00 pm Gwinnett County officers were assisting Snellville officers with a vehicle pursuit. K9 Eli was deployed to track the suspect when the suspect fled from the vehicle on foot. Camden City Resident Teron Furman Dies After Being Shot at 6th & Sycamore Streets

CAMDEN CITY, NJ (May 27, 2019)(gloucestercitynews.net)--Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a homicide that occurred in the city. The Camden County Police Department was made aware of two ShotSpotter activations near the 1100 block of South 6th Street and near the 600 block of Sycamore Street on May 26, 2019, at approximately 4:03 p.m. A short time later, they received reports of a male who was taken to Virtua Hospital in Camden suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
