Jefferson’s Family Health Services Hosts Wellness Fair
Tuesday, April 23, 2019
Jefferson Health’s New Jersey-based Family Health Services (FHS) held a “Spring Into Wellness” fair on April 19th, offering community members free diabetes education, blood pressure checks, food, games & giveaways, as well as an opportunity to speak with a wellness coordinator and behavioral health consultant. Also, there were local “Reach Out and Read” volunteers, from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM), taking part. “Reach Out and Read” addresses the gap in early literacy education often found in low-income populations. Since 2014, Jefferson FHS’ “Reach Out and Read” program has helped more than 7,000 South Jersey families by giving children a book at routine health checkups to take home and keep.
