Sean Savage, 45, from the La Cascata neighborhood in Clementon, was indicted on charges of Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death (First Degree), Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree) and Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree).
The indictment was returned on April 16 and signed by Prosecutor Coffina. An arraignment will be scheduled soon in Superior Court.
The investigation began when police were called to a Hopewell Road residence on February 20, 2018, and discovered the deceased body of an adult male who appeared to have overdosed.
The investigation revealed that the drugs responsible for causing the fatal overdose were purchased from Savage. The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit arrested Savage in Camden on September 18.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Jeremy Lackey. The investigation was conducted by the Evesham Township Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigator was Detective Andrew Beuschel.
An indictment is merely an accusation.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
