NEW YORK, NY (March 5, 2019)— The Miss America Organization (“MAO”) and the Miss New York Scholarship Organization (“NYSO”) announced today that MAO state license for New York has been awarded to a new, twelve-member Board of Directors, with Sloane Lewis and Jamie Hickman serving as Co-Executive Directors.
As part of the application process, the 12 new board members, most of whom have ties to the Miss America Organization through prior volunteer service or participation, have elected Mack Hopper as the Chairman of the Board. The NYSO will seek to gain new corporate and organizational partners to further the mission of providing scholarship assistance and service opportunities to young women across the state.
Sloane Lewis, Miss Kansas 2012, expressed her excitement for the new possibilities ahead of the NYSO, “The Miss New York Organization has a legacy that we look forward to building upon in the coming years,” said Lewis. “In the Empire State, we will have countless opportunities to develop partnerships and resources to carry out the fundamental purpose of the Miss America Organization: scholarship. We look forward to getting to work!”
The NYSO will work with local businesses and sponsors to build a more extensive network across the state of New York, growing the involvement and participation in the coming years.
“We are committed to providing assets that help young women fulfill their educational and career goals,” said Jamie Hickman, Co-Executive Director and Officer in the U.S. Army. “Our team is enthusiastic about making the NYSO the very best it can be.”
Brenda Keith, MAO Board member who chairs the license committee said, “We are pleased with the decision to bring so many inspired and dedicated voices to the table for the young women who will participate in New York. We are grateful to this new Board of Directors for their commitment to the mission of the MAO. We are confident the Miss New York Organization will continue to be a strong licensee within the MAO system.”
