West Deptford Man Charged with Distribution and Possession of Child Pornography

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ (February 26, 2019)(CNBNewsnet)--Daniel G. Watkins, 37, of West Deptford, NJ, was arrested and charged Wednesday, February 20, 2019, with one count of Distribution of Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography, Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore announced.

On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, detectives from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) concerning content that Watkins uploaded to his Google Photos account.

Watkins was arrested at a residence in West Deptford for an outstanding child support warrant.  At the time of his arrest, detectives seized Watkins’ cellular phone.  Watkins later admitted to possessing and uploading the images depicting the sexual exploitation of children to his account. 

Watkins was transported to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was processed and subsequently lodged in the Salem County Jail pending a detention hearing. 

 

Detectives from the GCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit were assisted by the GCPO Fugitive Investigations Unit and the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department. 

 

Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore recently established a dedicated High-Tech Crimes Unit in response to an increasing prevalence of technology in investigations.  Members of the High-Tech Crimes Unit are trained to conduct mobile device examinations, computer forensics, video surveillance recovery, and they are assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.  The unit also offers internet safety presentations to schools, churches, and civic/community groups.
