THE PUSH TO MAKE MEDICAID IN NJ EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT

Almost one in five New Jersey residents are on Medicaid, and a bunch of people are trying to make the system more efficient (like with value-based payments). On Friday, the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute unveiled the Medicaid Policy Center. On Thursday, the state's Department of Human Services announced the new Office of Medicaid Innovation. COUNCIL APPROVES HIGHER POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS

At a public meeting on Thursday, Roselle Park Council approved a 'Pay-to-Play' ordinance. Now, businesses can contribute up to $37,000 to a county-level political committee, $7,200 to a political committee, and $2,600 to a candidate’s committee. The maximum to do so was previously $200. HEADS UP ABOUT THIS PHONE SCAM, NJ STATE POLICE SAYS

On social media on Friday, New Jersey State Police warned that fraudsters are attempting to extract Social Security numbers from residents by posing as state police. The 'spoofing' scheme makes it seem like the call is from a legitimate state police number (609-452-2601). Don't give out your personal info, of course — and if you can, report the incident, the post says. (The Record)

CAMDEN COUNCIL MIGHT REGULATE MAKESHIFT MEMORIALS

On Tuesday, Camden City Council will introduce a measure that would create parameters for temporary memorials put up by loved ones on city-owned or public property. The ordinance would require the public works department to remove them after 15 days. Exceptions might be made for well-kept memorials, city officials said; it will be decided on a case-by-case basis. (TAPinto Camden)
