Suspect Arrested for Breaking Into Vacant Burlington Street Home in Gloucester City

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (February 22, 2019)--Gloucester City Police arrested a suspect last week for breaking into a vacant house in the 100 unit block of South Burlington Street.

According to police on February 20 (8:23 am) Ptl. Bob Saunders III and Cpl. Bill Lessig responded to a vacant residence in the 100 block of S. Burlington St. for a report of a possible burglary.  Upon arrival, the rear door of the residence was found kicked in and a male was found on the third floor of the residence.  Robert Malinowski Jr. (42), L.K.A. 300 block of Hudson St, was arrested and charged with defiant trespass and criminal mischief.  He was released.

 

In other matters, 

2/15 (1:35 pm) An employee at Gormley’s Auto on Rt. 130 reported sometime during the previous week, the catalytic converter was stolen off of a vehicle parked in the lot.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

2/15 (2:51 pm) Ofc. Barb Kane was called to Essex St. at N. Filmore St. for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/17 (12:20 am) Ptl. Will DeFoney responded to a residence in the 300 block of Hudson ST. for a reported trash can fire in the alley way.  Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by the homeowner using a garden hose and further investigation by GCFD personnel determined the fire was most likely caused by discarded cigarette butts.

 

2/18 (9:39 am) A resident of the 400 block of Hudson St. reported sometime between 7 am and 9 am on this date, his lap top computer was stolen from inside his residence.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

2/18 (11:45 am) Ptl. Don Fager III responded to Tooties Deli on Market St. for a reported shoplifting.  Upon arrival, the suspect male had left the scene and it was reported he stole loose candy with a combined total value of approximately five dollars.  The male was positively identified and was located in the 100 block of S. Burlington St. a short time later.  John J. Gurgely (40), a resident of Camden, was arrested for shoplifting.  He was also found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest from Camden City and Brooklawn.  He was later released on bail.

 

2/18 (4:00 pm) Ofc. Barb Kane was called to Middlesex and Sussex Streets for a vehicle crash involving three vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/18 (8:13 pm) A traffic stop on Broadway at Essex St. conducted by Det. Keith O’Donnell resulted with the arrests of two individuals:  Chanda C. Heggan (31) and Gabrielle T. Cherry (31), both residents of the Maple Terrace Trailer Park, were arrested and charged with possession of CDS (crack cocaine).  Cherry was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.  Both were released.

 

2/19 (11:52 am) Ptl. Don Fager III was called to Broadway at Morris St. for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/19 (12:08 pm) Ofc. Barb Kane was called to Broadway at Essex St. for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

 

2/20 (9:44 am) Ptl. Bob Saunders III responded to Broadway at Linden St. for a report of a male on a N.J. Transit bus who was unconscious.  Upon arrival, the (45) year old male resident of Paulsboro was found unconscious and barely breathing.  Ptl. Saunders III administered one dose of Naloxone and the male regained consciousness.  He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/20 (4:36 pm) Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell was called to Holt Logistics for a crash involving two tractor trailers.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/20 (6:47 pm) A traffic stop on Annwood Ave. at Cedarwood Ave. conducted by Inv. Tim Ryder and DSgt. Carl DePoder resulted with the arrest of Laura J. Maguire (48), a resident of Erial.  She was arrested and charged with possession of CDS (heroin and crack cocaine), possession of CDS with intent to distribute, distribution within 1000 feet of a school, distribution within 500 feet of a public park and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was lodged in Camden County Jail to await a detention hearing.

 

2/21 (1:57 pm) A traffic stop on Bergen St. at N. Burlington St. conducted by Ptl. Sean Saunders and Ptl. George Spingler resulted with the arrest of Roy E. Bond Jr. (42), a resident of the 100 block of Lehigh Ave.  He was arrested on a warrant from Gloucester City and additionally charged with possession of CDS (marijuana).  He was released on bail.

 

 

In addition, officers made (71) traffic stops and (180) property/business checks.  Officers made (12) arrests, responded to (11) domestic disputes, (40) medical assists, impounded (6) abandoned vehicles and managed (400) calls for service between February 15th. and February 21st.
