Digital First Media has submitted a $1.4 billion unsolicited takeover bid to "maximize value for Gannett stockholders." Backed by Alden Global — a hedge fund that gives vultures a bad name, according to Bloomberg — Digital First Media has (in)famously taken over The Denver Post, The Boston Herald, The San Jose Mercury News, and The Orange County Register. WITH $2.3M, STATE DOH BOOSTS PEDIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH

The state Department of Health announced Friday it is expanding the Pediatric Psychiatry Collaborative's telehealth and provider training programs, thanks to an influx of funding: $2.3 million total over five years from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, and $109,000 from the Nicholson Foundation. AFTER 30 YEARS, MCCARTER'S EMILY MANN TO STEP DOWN

Emily Mann, the "fierce and brilliant" Artistic Director and Resident Playwright of McCarter Theatre in Princeton, will step down at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season. In an announcement this week, the theater said next year will celebrate Mann's 30-year tenure, with details coming in March. (New Jersey Stage)

ATLANTIC CITY GAMING REVENUE UP 7.5 PERCENT IN 2018

According to data released by state regulators on Monday, the total revenue for gaming across Atlantic City casinos rose 7.5% in 2018. It's the third year in a row of revenue growth. Sports betting was legalized statewide in June. Two casinos opened on June 27: Hard Rock, which is the site of the former Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, and Ocean Resort Casino.
