Joel Martinez, of Camden City Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing in Gloucester City

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (January 24, 2019)--Joel Martinez, 18, of Camden, was arrested and charged in a connection with a stabbing that killed Alexander Medina on January 17, 2019.
Gloucester City Police responded to the 700 block of Bertwood Avenue in Gloucester City just before 8:00 p.m. to reports of a man who was injured. When they arrived, they found Alexander Medina stabbed and laying on the ground. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died a short time later.
Joel Martinez was charged with first degree Murder on January 18, 2019, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson.
Joel Martinez was taken into custody without incident in Haddonfield on January 23, 2019, and was transported to the Gloucester City Police Department where he was processed, and then taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing. Under Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained or released with conditions.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
