The NJ Advance Media Study on Police Force

by CNBNews Staff

NJ Advance Media has released the results of a 16-month investigation into the use of police force by police departments across the state of New Jersey. The study, prepared for NJ.com, revealed little oversight by state officials and no standard practices among local departments the report stated. To obtain the information for the research the news organization filed 506 public records requests (OPRA's) and collected 72,607 use-of-force reports. They covered every municipal police department in NJ along with the State Police. This is the most comprehensive statewide database of police force ever created and made public in the United States according to NJ.com

CNBNews has republished a summary of the data from The Force Report that pertains to a random selection of area police departments in the South Jersey area. Those departments include Gloucester City, Brooklawn, Bellmawr, Mt. Ephraim and Woodbury
