PHILADELPHIA PA (December 12, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--As part of the inaugural “Sharing Hope, Filling Hearts” initiative, homeless men and women served by Catholic Social Services’ housing and lunch programs will prepare 550 stockings for homeless and at-risk youth attending the 63rd Annual Archbishop’s Benefit for Children.

Each stocking will include items generously donated by various companies and organizations including: stuffed animals (Petco), Tastykakes (Tasty Baking Company), bags of pretzels and chips (Herrs), fruit snacks and cereal bars (Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese), crayons and coloring books (ANTHEM).

Over the last six decades the one day celebration known as the Archbishop Benefit for Children (ABC) has evolved into a year round fundraising initiative. ABC supports the daily operations and special projects of CSS programs that help more than 16,000 children living in poverty and youth at-risk from troubled family situations and challenged neighborhoods. Programs include prenatal outreach and new mother programs, after school care, shelters, and more.

ABC will culminate with The 63rd Annual ABC Christmas Gala. The party will be held at Philadelphia 201 Hotel, formerly known as the Sheraton Philadelphia Center City Hotel, on Tuesday, December 18th. Nearly 550 children will be in attendance from over a dozen CSS programs will be in attendance.
