Vigilant Gloucester City Police Officers Recover Stolen Car and Apprehend Fugitives

 

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (December 7, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--Two vigilant Gloucester City Police Officers driving on North Broadway in their patrol car last week noticed the Screen Shot 2017-12-14 at 14.34.40license plate on the car in front of them was reported stolen from a residence in Voorhees Township. As a result the driver, who was a fugitive and the passenger, who was wanted in Deptford Township were both arrested. 

According to the weekly crime report on December 6 (3:08 pm) while on patrol, Sgt. Ken Iepson and Ptl. Sean Saunders was driving behind a vehicle on Broadway when a check of the registration plate revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Voorhees.  The vehicle pulled into the Heritage parking lot where the driver and a passenger were placed under arrest.  The driver, Hazem S. Zakielba (42), a resident of Williamstown was found to be a fugitive from justice wanted in Camden County.  He was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of CDS (cocaine) before being lodged in Camden County Jail.  The passenger, Kimberly M. Smith (30), a resident of Brooklawn, was arrested on a warrant from Deptford Twp.  She was released on bail. 

IN OTHER MATTERS

11/30 (2:04 pm) A traffic stop on Hudson St. at Broadway conducted by Inv. Tim Ryder resulted with the arrest of John J. McCaffery (34), a resident of Washington Twp.  He was arrested on warrants from Camden City and released on bail.

 

11/30 (3:49 pm) A traffic stop on N. Brown St. at Essex conducted by Ptl. Sean Saunders resulted in the arrest of Alayna N. Bohannon (29), a resident of Deptford Twp.  She was found to be a fugitive from justice wanted in Gloucester County and additionally charged possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license, before being turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

 

12/1 (1:32 am) Ptl. Mike Calzonetti and K9 Blitz responded to Brooklawn to assist Brooklawn Police with a narcotics investigation on a traffic stop.

 

12/1 (2:02 am) Officers responded to Tavern on the Edge on Jersey Ave. for a report of a fight between two females.  Upon arrival, there was no fight in progress and one of the females involved had left the scene.  Video surveillance footage was obtained and the female who left was positively identified.  No charges have been signed at this time.

 

12/1 (8:11 am) A traffic stop on Broadway at King St. conducted by Ptl. John Bryszewski resulted with the arrest of Kevin T. Watson (26), a resident of the 200 block of Powell St.  He was arrested on warrants from Cherry Hill, Palmyra and additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.  He was released on bail.

 

12/1 (9:56 am) Ptl. Sean Gartland was called to N. Burlington St. at Salem for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

12/1 (7:55 pm) Ptl. Don Fager III responded to a vacant residence in the 400 block of S. Broadway for a reported burglary in progress.  The residence was searched and two individuals were found on the third floor.  Tito Diaz Jr. (32), and Jennifer K. Pinardo (37), both residents of Brooklawn, were arrested and charged with defiant trespass before being released.

 

12/2 (3:24 pm) Officers responded to the Wing Hing Restaurant on Broadway for a reported robbery.  Upon arrival, an employee reported the suspect was a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and green baseball cap.  The suspect approached him at the open rear door of the building, held his hand in his sweatshirt pocket gesturing that he had a weapon and demanded $20.  The employee gave the suspect a $20 bill at which time he fled on foot heading north on Broadway.  A search of the area for a suspect matching the description was unsuccessful and the investigation is ongoing.

 

12/3 (11:50 am) A resident of the 400 block of Monmouth St. came to HQ to report her apartment was burglarized between 10:00 and 10:30 am on December 1st.  She reported nothing stolen; however, the apartment was ransacked.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

12/3 (4:26 pm) Ofc. Brittany Pollander responded to Market St. at Rt. 130 for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

12/3 (7:23 pm) A traffic stop conducted on Collings Ave. at Essex St. by Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo resulted in the arrest of Devon L. Ratliff.  He was arrested on warrants from Deptford Twp. and additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.  He was released on bail.

 

12/3 (8:29 pm) Ptl. Greg Coxe responded to a residence in the 500 block of Ridgeway St. for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the (35) year old male resident was found unconscious and not breathing.  Ptl. Coxe administered one dose of Naloxone and paramedics administered a second dose before the male regained consciousness.  He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

12/4 (7:09 pm) A traffic stop on Burlington St. at Essex conducted by Ptl. Greg Coxe resulted with the arrest of Jamar Flores (23), a resident of Camden.  Flores was charged with possession of CDS (heroin and marijuana), possession with intent to distribute, distribution within 1000 feet of a school, distribution within 500 feet of a public park and driving on a suspended license.  He was released after processing.

 

12/4 (10:53 pm) Ptl. Will DeFoney responded to the 100 block of N. Broadway for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the (40) year old male resident of the 100 block of N. Broadway was found on the sidewalk, unconscious and not breathing.  Ptl. DeFoney administered one dose of Naloxone and the male regained consciousness.  He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

12/5 (9:56 am) A traffic stop on Market St. at Walnut Ave. conducted by Ptl. George Spingler resulted in the arrest of Elayne G. Baumann (47), a resident of Bellmawr.  She was arrested on warrants from Bellmawr and additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.  She was released on bail.

 

12/5 (11:08 am) Ofc. Johanna James responded to Gormley’s Auto on Rt. 130 for a report of a theft.  Upon arrival, it was reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked on the lot.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

12/5 (5:52 pm) Ptl. Don Fager III was called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Ave. for a crash involving three vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

12/5 (6:00 pm) Ptl. Mike Calzonetti and K9 Blitz were called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Ave. for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

12/5 (11:45 pm) A pedestrian stop on N. Broadway at Essex St. conducted by Ptl. Don Fager III resulted with the arrest of Earl J. Mead (34), a resident of Erial.  He was arrested on a warrant from Camden City and additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe.  He was released on bail.

 

12/6 (2:09 pm) Jesse J. Deacon (29), a resident of the unit block of N. Broadway, was arrested in the 400 block of S. Broadway by Ofc. Johanna James on warrants from Oaklyn, Brooklawn and Collingswood.  He was released on bail.

 

In addition, officers made (83) traffic stops and (234) property/business checks.  Officers made (15) arrests, responded to (7) domestic disputes, impounded (1) abandoned vehicle and managed (391) calls for service between November 30th. and December 6th.
