Gloucester City Police Arrest Suspect Carrying a Handgun along with Crack Cocaine and Cash

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (DECEMBER 29, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--Gloucester City Police conducted a traffic earlier this week that resulted in the recovery of loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun along with a quantity of crack cocaine and cash.
According to police on Thursday, December 27 at 7:49 pm a traffic stop in the 100 block of Nicholson Road conducted by Det. Keith O’Donnell and Inv. Tim Ryder resulted with the arrest of the driver. Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo were called to the scene to conduct an open air narcotics sniff around the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery a quantity of crack cocaine and the driver, Ronald J. Sye (34), a resident of Lindenwold, was placed under arrest. Search incident to arrest recovered a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun from his jacket pocket along with an additional quantity of crack cocaine and cash. Sye was charged with possession of CDS (crack cocaine), possession with intent to distribute CDS, distribution of CDS within 500 feet of a public building, unlawful possession of a handgun and certain persons not to possess firearms. It was later determined that Sye is currently on parole for possession of a handgun and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in Camden County Jail.
In other matters,
12/21 (2:49 pm) A resident of Orange St. reported sometime during the day, a package delivered and left on her doorstep was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
12/21 (2:57 pm) Ptl. Keith Wall responded to Heritages on Broadway for a reported shoplifting. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male stole $160 worth of candy and fled from the store. Surveillance video was obtained and the male was positively identified. John T. McCormick (33), a resident of Deptford, was charged with shoplifting.
12/21 (3:51 pm) Officers responded to a vacant residence in the 800 block of Little Somerset St. for a reported burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that three juveniles had broken a window and entered the residence. A (13) year old male from the 300 block of Hudson St., a (10) year old male from the 100 block of N. Brown St. and a (12) year old male from Mt. Ephraim were taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief. All were released to their guardians.
12/21 (10:23 pm) Officers responded to a residence on Barnaby Ave. after the resident reported an unknown male ran into his house. Upon arrival, the male stated to the officers that he was shot at in Camden City and fled to the Wawa in Gloucester City in his truck. At the Wawa, he stated he thought he saw the same people who shot at him so he fled on foot to Barnaby Ave. Further investigation and surveillance video obtained determined the male’s report was not true. Paul M. Hasselman (36), a resident of Clarksboro, was arrested on warrants from Gloucester City, Camden, Deptford Twp., and Maurice River Twp. He was additionally charged with criminal trespass before being released on bail.
12/23 (9:40 am) Ptl. Will DeFoney was called to Rt. 130 at Market St. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/23 (12:37 pm) A resident of the 100 block of N. Burlington St. reported his bicycle was stolen from the 300 block of Essex St. The investigation is ongoing.
12/23 (6:11 pm) Ptl. Don Fager III was called to Rt. 130 at Market St. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/23 (6:25 pm) Officers responded to the 200 block of S. Broadway for a reported fight. Upon arrival and further investigation, Tito Diaz Jr. (32), a resident of Brooklawn, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He was lodged in Camden County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
12/24 (7:41 am) Ofc. Johanna James was called to Market St. at 4th. St. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/24 (3:53 pm) Ptl. Sean Gartland was called to Monmouth St. at Johnson Blvd. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/25 (11:28 am) A resident of the 100 block of N. Burlington St. reported sometime overnight, his vehicle was burglarized. Bank cards and cash were reported stolen and the investigation is ongoing.
12/25 (12:12 pm) Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of N. Burlington St. for a reported dwelling fire. Upon arrival, the resident had already evacuated. GCFD personnel responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported and it was determined that a candle had been knocked over on a couch, causing the fire.
12/26 (9:44 am) Ptl. Will DeFoney was called to N. Broadway at King St. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/26 (11:36 am) Ptl. Will DeFoney was called to the 300 block of Mercer St. for a report of a hit and run crash involving a parked vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
12/26 (3:00 pm) Wayne O. Orsini (24), a resident of the 900 block of Market St. was arrested on Broadway at Somerset St. by Ptl. George Spingler. He was found to be a fugitive from justice wanted in Camden County and lodged in Camden County Jail.
12/26 (10:32 pm) Sean P. Howey (36), a resident of Woodbury, was arrested on Jersey Ave. at Broadway by Ptl. George Spingler. He was arrested on warrants from Camden City and released on bail.
12/27 (2:10 am) A traffic stop on Rt. 130 at Market St. conducted by Ptl. George Spingler resulted with the arrest of the driver. Joann A. Weber-McGinness (26), a resident of Cherry Hill, was found to be a fugitive from justice wanted in Burlington County. She was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license before being lodged in Camden County Jail.
12/27 (3:29 pm) Ptl. Greg Coxe was called to Brown St. at Monmouth St. for a crash involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.
12/27 (7:19 pm) Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo responded to Brooklawn to assist Brooklawn Police with a narcotics investigation.
