Last week, New Jersey Troopers assisted the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) by escorting Gunnery Sergeant Thomas McRae to New York City for the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Linda Thompson, community coordinator for the FDNY, organized the event in conjunction with the Wounded Warrior Project.
Sgt McRae is a United States Marine who was injured in Afghanistan in 2012 when he stepped on an improvised explosive device. As a result of the explosion, Sgt. McRae lost both legs above the knees, lost his left arm above the elbow, and sustained a severe head wound.
In spite his traumatic injuries, Sgt. McRae maintains a positive and upbeat personality by not dwelling on the past, but by focusing on what he can do about his future.
Thank you for your service sir!
