Gloucester Township Man Arrested After Receiving Package Containing Carfentanil

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (November 1, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Suburban Narcotics Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations Cherry Hill Office, in coordination with the Camden County Sheriff’s Department Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team and Gloucester Township Police Department announced that one suspect has been arrested in connection with a Carfentanil delivery case.

Theodore Pierce, 46, of Gloucester Township, was arrested Tuesday after receiving a parcel containing Carfentanil.  The parcel had been intercepted by Homeland Security Investigations after it was shipped to Pierce from overseas. Carfentanil, or carfentanyl, is an opioid that is used to treat pain, and is one of the most potent opioids known.

Detectives arrested Pierce after a multi-agency investigation and the subsequent execution of search warrant at a residence on the 2400 Block of Fernwood Drive, a residence in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township.   Detectives seized a quantity of suspected Carfentanil and other controlled dangerous substances.

Members of the Camden County HAZMAT Team and the Cherry Hill Fire Department were on scene and assisted with evaluating and processing the scene of any/all controlled dangerous substances.  Theodore Pierce was charged accordingly based on the evidence located on scene.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
