ATLANTIC CITY NJ (October 31, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--In October, Nia’s official appearances kicked off, ranging from visits to the Met, the LA and Atlantic City operas, her first CMNH visit, keynoting convention and fundraisers, her first USO appearances, schools and additional media appearances.
6th: 5th Annual 2018 The Power of You Empowerment Experience
New York, NY
Nia was the keynote speaker and featured performer at the 5th Annual The Power of You Empowerment Experience. Over 500 girls, ages 11 thru 18 and their families attended the event whose purpose was to inform, instill and inspire teens to think creatively and believe there is no limit to what they can achieve!
8th: AUSA Convention (Association of United States Army Convention)
As Miss America 2019, Nia continued the tradition of the Miss America attending the annual AUSA Convention on behalf of the USO DC Metro. There she met with the USO’s corporate vendors, attended AUSA Luncheon where she spoke and was the special VIP guest of Elaine Rogers, President and CEO of USO DC Metro.
9th: USO DC Metro - Fort Meade and Walter Reed Hospital Visit
Nia toured Fort Meade and met and took photos with military service men and women at Walter Reed Hospital visiting patients and their families.
11th: Multicultural Talent Pipeline
120 diverse college students from across the US, joined the Publicis Groupe for 2 days of workshops and training in Atlanta. Nia was featured in Fireside Chat with board member Shenan Reed.
12th: MAOTeen London Hibbs Homecoming
Nia attended events surround London’s homecoming and delivered two speeches and took photos with guests.
15th: CMNH Children’s’ Hospital of Orange County Visit
Orange County, CA
This was Nia’s first visit to CMN Hospital as their National Goodwill Ambassador. She spent the day visiting with patients and performed in Seacrest Studios for patients and their family members.
17th: Walter Kaitz Foundation Dinner/Ovation TV
New York, NY
Ovation TV sponsored this exclusive cable industry dinner attended by top leaders at cable programmers and operators. Over 1,000 guests in attendance, Nia spoke on diversity in the arts and introduced a short video.
18th: USO Stars and Stripes Gala
Nia performed the National Anthem to kick off the annual USO-Metro’s Stars and Stripes Benefit for the Troops, a networking fundraiser that brings together military industry professionals, business and community leaders, USO supporters, and military heroes with some of the largest businesses and the government contracting companies located in the Washington-Baltimore region.
20th: LA Opera Instagram Takeover
Los Angeles, CA
As one of the special VIP guests attending the opening of the LA Opera’s SATYAGRAHA. Nia took over their Instagram to promote their opening of the show.
22nd: North Carolina 2018 AmeriCorps Member Launch
Nia was the keynote speaker at the annual AmeriCorps Member Launch, where over 300 members attended as the kick off of their year of service volunteering. Nia spoke for over 30 minutes about her AmeriCorps experience and the impact it had on her life.
24th: Richmond Avenue School Visit
Atlantic City, NJ
As part of the Miss America Organization giving back to the Atlantic City initiative, Nia spoke and performed to an assembly of grammar school students on the importance of the arts in education and the importance of getting involved in their programs.
24th: Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association 28th Installation & Awards Gala
Atlantic City, NJ
Saluting MBCA for 28 years of Servicing the AC Region, Nia spoke to the audience of over 1000 that included Atlantic City’s community leader, civic and philanthropic members and other local business leaders.
26th: Center for Education Reform 25th Anniversary Summit and Gala
Nia participated in a Fireside Chat with Jeanne Allen, CER founder, to discuss importance of Arts in Education. The chat tool place in front of an audience of over 1000 that consisted of influential education policy makers, innovation in K-higher ed, education reformers including many charter schools and many pioneers that founded the nation’s first laws and first charters, private school public school and business people. Nia also sang at their evening gala.
30th: Sing for Hope Gala
New York, NY
This organization was the foundation for Nia’s social impact initiative in coming to compete
as Miss New York. She returned to them by appearing as a VIP guest, talking about the importance of the Miss America program and her affiliation with Sing for Hope.
