Real Men Read at Bowe School in Glassboro

(Glassboro, NJ) – The Thomas Bowe School Real Men Read program held its annual kick-off breakfast on Oct. 12, 2018 to set a new year of goals for the readers in the program. For the last four years Freeholder Jim Jefferson has participated, along with other community mentors, to help serve as mentors to the boys.

The mission of the Bowe School Real Men Read program is to deepen literacy and instill a love of reading in at-risk young male students through mentors who are willing to share their lives as readers with groups of young men in an effort to demonstrate that real men do in fact read and value education; encourage and improve student literacy skills; provide mentoring opportunities for men; and demonstrate the importance of student achievement, parental involvement and community partnerships.
