September was Childhood Cancer Awareness month.  Gloucester City High School honored Cassidy Voll, a Junior and cancer survivor during halftime of the GHS vs. New Egypt football game.  She was accompanied by her family.

Throughout the past few weeks under the guidance of our Nurse, Mrs. Stewart, Cassidy and her GHS classmates coordinated multiple fundraisers to raise awareness for this powerful & important cause.  Mr. Gorman proudly communicated "that the Gloucester City High School community collectively raised well over $1,000 that will be donated to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in Cassidy's honor.

CHOP provided excellent care to Cassidy  as she was diagnosed with Leukemia in the 6th grade.  That diagnosis led her to endure 5 rounds of chemotherapy.  She is now in remission but has been further challenged by results of the chemotherapy which have required her to have bilateral hip replacements and stem cell transplants.  Most recently, Cassidy braved through ankle replacements as physicians worried in the spring of 2017 that she may be facing lower leg amputations.  To say that Cassidy is the definition of "lionhearted" would be an understatement.  We are infinitely proud of Cassidy and endlessly grateful for the difference that she makes at Gloucester High School each day."

Cassidy released balloons in memory of children who lost their battle to cancer.
