Carjacking Suspects Captured in Winslow Twp.

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ (October 30, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--Monday, October 29 at 4:22 pm Winslow Police were dispatched to Dunham Loop in the Tansboro section of Winslow Twp. for a carjacking that just occurred involving four subjects. The subjects were reported to be armed with a handgun.

Responding units observed the vehicle on New Brooklyn Road. As marked units activated their overhead lights, the vehicle parked abruptly and all four occupants fled on foot towards a wooded area. Initial officers gave chase on foot and subsequently captured two of the four suspects within ½ mile of their car. During this initial foot pursuit, a Winslow Officer sustained a deep laceration to his hand as he climbed a 7-foot fence. Despite his injury, the officer continued the chase and captured one of the two subjects.

In addition to Winslow Twp. Officers, Officers from Berlin Twp, Berlin Boro, Pine Hill, Waterford and the Camden County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and assisted with the search. A perimeter was established as K-9 Officers from Berlin Township, Camden County Sheriff Department and Pine Hill began searching. The remaining two suspects were captured in a field near Penbryn Road. An imitation firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

Investigation revealed the victim met the suspects at a gas station in Sicklerville and when they were inside his vehicle, one of the subjects pointed a handgun at him and demanded he drive them to Dunham Loop. When stopped at a residence on Dunham Loop, the victim ran from the vehicle and police were contacted. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle until they were observed by Winslow Police.

As a result of the investigation, the four accused were charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Resisting Arrest, Carjacking, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Criminal Restraint and Unlawful Possession of Weapon. The two adults were remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility and the two juveniles were lodged into Lakeland Complex.

The Winslow Township Police Department would like to thank following agencies for their assistance: Berlin Boro. Police, Berlin Twp. Police, Camden County Sheriffs Department, Camden County Central Communications, Pine Hill Police, Waterford Police and Winslow EMS. The injured Winslow Officer was treated and released from the hospital after receiving 10 stiches to his hand.
