SCRANTON, PA (CNBNewsnet)(08/08/2018)-- Grace Donnelly, Haddon Heights, and Corinne Mackenzie, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, will serve as student orientation team leaders for summer orientation sessions and the fall welcome program for The University of Scranton's class of 2022.

They will lead a team of University administrators, faculty and more than 50 student orientation assistants, to help acquaint the incoming class to the University community and region.

Donnelly is a junior occupational therapy major at Scranton.

Orientation is designed to introduce new students and their families to the University's procedures, facilities and support services, and to provide them with the opportunity to meet with faculty, administrators and staff, as well as each other. University of Scranton President Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., will also welcome to campus the students who represent 14 states, including Alaska, Texas, Georgia and Virginia.

At the summer orientation sessions, incoming students complete chemistry, mathematics, foreign language and composition placement tests. They also meet academic advisors, attend presentations on support services and extracurricular activities, and participate in recreational and social events. Parents and guests learn about the new role they will play as they transition to becoming a parent of a college student and are briefed on the resources and programs offered by Campus Ministries, Financial Aid, the Center for Career Development and other departments at the University.

The entire class of 2022 will assemble on campus for the first time at Fall Welcome Weekend Aug. 25-26.
