2 NJ PRIESTS REMOVED AMID SEX MISCONDUCT INQUIRIES  

The Roman Catholic Church has removed two New Jersey priests from their parishes Screen Shot 2017-11-28 at 15.20.47amid allegations of sexual misconduct, The Record reports. The Rev. Gerard Sudol, who had been cleared of previous allegations years ago, was removed from Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Jersey City after a new accuser came forward. The Rev. Jim Weiner of St. Andrew's Church in Westwood was removed after church officials said they were reopening an inquiry. Weiner had been scheduled to be installed as pastor on Sept. 15.

EDISON POLICE FORCE BRACES FOR MORE ARRESTS  

The Edison Police Department, well-known for public scandals, is facing allegations of steroid use, illegally running license plates and paying officers for no-show off-duty jobs, NJ.com writes. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Officer has essentially taken over the internal affairs unit and investigators are reviewing years of payroll and timecards, law enforcement sources say. So far, five officers are facing criminal charges, but some members of the department say the number could grow to as many as 20.

NEW ERA OF LOCAL CONTROL FOR NEWARK SCHOOLS 

After 20 years of tumultuous state control, Newark schools are preparing to start the school year under the direction of local leaders, NJTV says. At the annual Newark school district convocation, held Tuesday at the Prudential Center, a sense of pride was evident as as education and political leaders rallied the audience of teachers and staff. Mayor Ras Baraka, a former school principal, said, "You are the future of our city." 

ATLANTIC CITY BASEBALL UNLIKELY FOR 2019 SEASON

Atlantic City's effort to bring baseball back to Surf Stadium is continuing, but a negotiator for the city says a deal for the 2019 season is unlikely, the Press of Atlantic City writes. The city's negotiator says he is "cautiously optimistic" that a team could be in place by the summer of 2020. One option that may be considered is selling naming rights for the stadium to a corporate sponsor.

AMERICAN DREAM MALL ON TRACK TO OPEN IN SPRING

The developer of the American Dream mall in the Meadowlands says the first phase of the huge project is on track to open in the spring, The Record reports. Triple Five, the company behind the project, says it will double the number of construction jobs on the site in coming months. The company opened the site to politicians, including Gov. Phil Murphy, business leaders and the press on Tuesday to show the progress that is being made in the development that has been in the works since 2003 under various names and developers.
