Kemble Hosts Annual Free Summer Music Camp from August 6-10

Local Children To Dive Deeper in the Waters of God’s Love

Woodbury, NJ— Kemble United Methodist Church invites local children, ages seven through 15, to join in on the fun at its third annual Summer Music Camp.  Held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day of the week of August 6th, the camp aims to nurture musicianship, build confidence and encourage artistic expression in children through developmentally appropriate vocal instruction.  Presided by Lead Pastor Reverend Dr. Michael Harriott, and run by Director of Music Sarah England Baab and more than two dozen volunteers, this community choir experience wraps up on Friday, August 10th, with an 11 a.m. closing program that concludes with a reception for the families in the church’s Raver Dining Hall.

"At Kemble's Summer Music Camp, we hope to encourage all campers to find a life-long love of music through a week of fun and friendship. This year our summer fun theme will be "Diving Deep in the Waters of God's Love,” shared Mrs. Baab. All are welcome to take the plunge!” she added. In addition to the free music instruction, participants also receive complimentary lunch each day.

This annual free music camp has grown in attendance each year, with 65 local youth participating in 2017. In February, Kemble Memorial UMC hosted a one-day free winter music program to maintain and build on the children’s interest and enthusiasm for singing.  The music camp’s participants will also have the opportunity to showcase their vocal skills at Kemble’s 130th Anniversary celebration, held on Saturday October 6th as part of Woodbury Main Street’s Block Party.

“At Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church, we’re the church in the heart of the city with the city in our hearts,” shares Dr. Harriott.  “As our vision statement is ‘Making Children and Youth the Face of Kemble Church,’ we are always delighted that local families entrust us to be a part of their children’s lives for the week,” he added.
