William R. Hagan Sr., Past Gloucester City Councilman and Retired Ambulance Driver

Gloucester City NJ (June 28, 2018) - Surrounded by his loving family on June 26, 2018. Age 84 Loving husband of 65 years to the late Effie M. Hagan (nee Harker). Loving father of William R. Hagan, Jr. (Dawn), Brian P. Hagan (Anne) and Michael J. Hagan. One of 14 children, William is survived by his sisters, Joan Gundle and Jean Eller. Predeceased by his children, Charles A. Hagan, Sr. and Margaret Hagan; his parents, Joseph and Amber Hagan and his grandson, Charles A. Hagan, Jr. and many brothers and sisters. Cherished grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 11.  

Bill worked for the Gloucester City Fire Department as an ambulance driver for 34 years before retiring in 1989.  He was president of both the Gloucester City Firemen’s Relief Association and Gloucester Heights Fire Association, where he was a volunteer firefighter. Bill served on Gloucester City Council in the 1st ward from 2000-2009.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday night, July 1st, from 6 to 8 PM and again on Monday morning, July 2nd  from 8:30 to 9:45 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City.  Mass of Christian Burial Monday morning at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Gloucester City. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
