Ocean City Resident Busted on Narcotic Charges

Cape May Court House, New Jersey (June 27, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--- Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Acting Chief, Captain John J. Prettyman announce the arrest of William Baker (age 18) of Ocean City for the distribution of Hashish on June 22, 2018.

This three month investigation was conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force (GGNTF) along with the Ocean City Police Department's Detective Division and involved allegations that Baker was selling eatable items throughout Cape May County that allegedly contained marijuana.

On June 22, 2018, Baker was arrested without incident by members of the Ocean City Police Department. Baker was charged with Distribution of Hashish over five grams (3rd degree), Distribution of Hashish in a Public Place (2nd degree), Possession of Hashish (4th degree), and Wandering to sell CDS (Disorderly Persons Offense). Baker was subsequently placed on a warrant and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center pending Court proceedings. *

Prosecutor Sutherland advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime can be sentenced to 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, third degree crimes can carry a sentence of 3 to 5 years and a person convicted of a fourth degree crime can be sentenced to up to 18 months in State Prison.

Prosecutor Sutherland stated that his office will continue to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
