About This Festival

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ (CNBNewsnet)--When you cross the Walt Whitman bridge into Gloucester City, you’re not entering an ordinary town. It’s a tight-knit community with an undying love for the arts, extreme sports and fellow residents. Most cities make similar claims, but do they host a free music festival to celebrate their community and donate all proceeds to local charities? Not Your Mother’s Music Festival is the real deal, and you’re welcome to join in on the fun at Proprietors Park.

Music for Everyone

It’s in the name, so we’ll talk about NYMMF’s stellar music lineup first. The festival packs two entertainment stages with an eclectic lineup of local musicians and national touring acts. Spanning rock, pop, hip-hop, folk, metal and other upbeat genres, there’s something for everyone throughout the day whether you want to dance, head bang or tap your toes to the beat. Also, if you’re a fan of Drake Bell, the Nickelodeon sitcom star of the early 2000s, he will be performing his catchy, pop-rock anthems at the festival in 2018. Super fans (aka those who purchase a VIP pass) will have the opportunity to meet the “Drake and Josh” star before he goes on stage!

Extreme Sports Demonstrations

Extreme sports are defined as any athletic activity that involves serious risk. If cool tricks and risk of bodily harm give you goosebumps, NYMMF delivers with three skateboarding and BMX demonstrations by Philly Skate School. Watch professional athletes catch serious air and bust gnarly tricks you wish you could do.

Other Activities

Beyond music and extreme sports, this festival has so much to do that it’s virtually impossible to get bored. You can start the day off right with an energizing yoga class on the pier led by a professional instructor. Meditate the stress away so you can focus your energy on having fun with your friends and family all day long. After you’re all stretched out and feeling good, hop on the 50-foot Ferris wheel to get a solid view of Gloucester City, the Delaware River and the stunning Philadelphia skyline. If you’re bringing your kids, let them loose in the Run Amuck Kid Zone where they can jump around on bounce houses, pet cute animals and watch a magician perform nifty magic tricks, among many other activities.

As the day heats up, you’ll want to keep cool by visiting the Beer & Wine Garden to sip on the best local brews and wines in the Delaware Valley. There are also local food trucks dishing out healthy fare to keep you fueled throughout the day. Speaking of health, there’s a huge variety of holistic and healing vendors in Wellness Avenue to ensure you’re in tip-top shape while you’re here.
