Sarah England Baab Leads Famed Music Program in the Church’s Historic Year
Woodbury, N.J.— As it prepares to celebrate its 130th Anniversary at its iconic Broad Street location, Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church officially welcomed Sarah England Baab as its Music Director this past Sunday, June 17, 2018.
Mrs. Baab brings to Kemble a diverse experience as a music educator and a passion for using music to connect people with one another and with the Lord. For the past six years, she has worked as a music educator in a broad number of settings, including teaching private piano and vocal lessons to children and adults at the International School of Music in Bethesda, Maryland. Baab also teaches courses in music history at Rowan University and at the University of Delaware.
Mrs. Baab, who noted she enjoys the South Jersey area, looks forward to working in a community church like Kemble. “I always hoped to bring the skills that I developed as a music educator back to worship,” Baab remarked. “I began my life in music in the church. Performing for worship holds a special place in my heart.”
She received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from West Chester University, a Master’s degree in Musicology from the University of Maryland College Park, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate.
Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church, known for its historic Peragallo organ and choral music program over the years, plans to host its third annual Summer Music Camp, free to community youth, from August 6th to 10th. The church will also host its “Hear our Heart” 130th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 6th as part of Woodbury Main Street’s Block Party. Pastor Michael Harriott looks forward to Baab carrying on the church’s congregational music programs and traditions as well as leading music education and performances at these two community outreach events.
