Division of Senior Services announces annual "Keep Cool" Fan Distribution
(West Deptford, NJ) -- With the arrival of June and the heat of summer due, the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that they will hold a “Keep Cool” fan distribution on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Those seniors living in low-income situations are the most likely to struggle with the heat during the summer months. This fan distribution allows us to assist those who are aged or disabled this summer by keeping them safe and healthy.”
Fan Distribution will take place on Wednesday, June 13 at the Gloucester County Senior Services Offices at Budd Boulevard located at 115 Budd Blvd. in West Deptford from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Freeholder Jim Jefferson said, “Senior citizens are especially vulnerable to heat because many may have pre-existing conditions that effect their health. Giving our seniors in need a fan can help them remain healthy and comfortable this summer.” Jefferson is the liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the Division of Senior Services.
Due to the limited amount of fans and under the guidelines set forth by the Older Americans Act, priority will be given to seniors 60 and above who must have proof of ID showing Gloucester County address and date of birth.
Seniors must show PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled) or Medicaid card to show low income.
Those who received a fan from Senior Services in 2017 are not eligible to receive one this year, and only one fan per household will be distributed.
