Jonathan Fowler, of Mullica Township, a transmission system operator, is a 30-year veteran with the Elwood Volunteer Fire Company where he serves as firefighter, and held previous positions of safety officer, drill instructor, officer and captain. Fowler annually organizes a local golf tournament that recently raised $22,000 in support of a local 14-year-old girl diagnosed with leukemia. Fowler performs speaking engagements at schools and community groups, teaching fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

John Garth, of Egg Harbor City, a communication technician, comes from a large family spanning several generations of committed community volunteers, including firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Garth has served his communities as a firefighter for more than 25 years, the previous 15 years with the Egg Harbor City Volunteer Fire Company. Garth’s duties include administration work, responding to calls, and truck and building maintenance. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he is no stranger to personal risk and is inspired by family members and friends that take the same risks to help others.

Ken Mosca, External Affairs manager, of Ventnor, and his wife Isabelle, founded FACES 4 Autism after their son was diagnosed at 18 months. At that time, services in the area were limited so they started FACES, a program dedicated to improving the lives of individuals through social opportunities and programs that will foster self-advocacy, independence and dignity. The organization provides autism education and resources to families and educators in the South Jersey area, touching more than 500 families each year. Mosca is the primary fundraiser for FACES and started its signature fundraising event, Stand Up 4 Autism.

This year, 24 employees across the Exelon family of companies were recognized for their efforts and their nonprofit partners each received grants from the company. An external selection committee, comprised of leaders from the nonprofit community, selected these dedicated individuals for their volunteer efforts from all the employees who submitted applications. Since 2007, the awards program has recognized more than 170 employees and provided more than $1.2 million to their nonprofit partners.

Through the Energy for the Community Program, hundreds of Atlantic City Electric employees volunteer annually to support initiatives including arts and culture, community development, environmental sustainability, and education initiatives that align with the company’s purpose of powering a cleaner and brighter future for its customers and communities.

In 2017, Atlantic City Electric contributed more than $1 million to local nonprofits, while its employees volunteered more than 14,200 hours to assist hundreds of organizations throughout southern New Jersey. Together, employees at Atlantic City Electric and the Exelon family of companies volunteered more than 210,000 hours with a variety of nonprofit organizations in 2017.
