Coast Guard rescues 3 from water in Delaware Bay

PHILADELPHIA (CNBNewsnet)(May 26, 2018)— A Coast Guard boat crew rescued three people from the water approximately 30 yards offshore Lewes, Delaware, Friday evening.
A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boat crew from Station Indian River Inlet in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was underway in the area and spotted a capsized 21-foot catamaran near the ferry wall at 7:40 p.m.
Three people were in the water nearby and wearing life jackets.
The crew rescued all three adults from the water and brought them ashore to the Cape May-Lewes ferry terminal.
No injuries or pollution were reported. The catamaran’s owner is arranging salvage of his vessel.
“Boating accidents often happen too quickly for the people involved to locate and put on their life jackets,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Reece Raxter, coxswain for the case. “The three people aboard this boat made the right decision to put their life jackets on before the unexpected happened.”
