LoBiondo Hails Supreme Court Ruling Repealing Sports-Betting Ban

CNBNews graphics file WASHINGTON, D.C. – A long-time proponent to allow sports-betting in Atlantic City, U.S. Representative Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling striking down the federal ban: “This is excellent news for Atlantic City! Together with the planned openings of Hard Rock and Ocean next month, today’s ruling allowing sports betting will have a significant and positive impact on South Jersey, bringing tourism and tax revenue to the state and reinvigorating Atlantic City,” said LoBiondo. “From the legislature and Governor Christie’s legal strategy to my efforts in Congress, our multi-prong multi-year approach proved successful in securing the shared goal of seeing sports betting become legal in New Jersey.” Brought to the U.S. Supreme Court by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the ruling repeals The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, thus allowing states the right to legalize... Bureau of Securities Assesses $100,000 Penalty Against NJ Man for Defrauding Investors

NEWARK (CNBNewsnet)– The New Jersey Bureau of Securities today ordered a Bergen County man and his company to pay a $100,000 civil penalty for selling unregistered fraudulent securities and misusing at least $82,000 of investors’ funds on steak dinners, limousine service, visits to a “gentlemen’s club,” and other personal expenses. Eric J. Bruno, of River Vale, and his company Mirakill Brands, LLC, (“Mirakill”) misled at least eight investors – including at least seven from New Jersey – into buying unregistered securities in the form of membership interests and warrants to buy membership interests in Mirakill. Bruno represented Mirakill to investors as a start-up business that would be developing an antimicrobial agent for industrial use. In a Summary Order issued today, Christopher W. Gerold, Chief of the New Jersey Bureau of Securities, found that from at least July 2013 to June 2014, Bruno and Mirakill fraudulently raised approximately $137,000 from investors... Read more →

Vineland, N.J. Police Department Locks Up Energy-Efficient Foundation in New Facility

MILLVILLE, N.J. – More than 50 years old, the current Vineland, N.J. Police Department building includes obsolete heat and air conditioning, lacks the necessary space to effectively manage growth, and has an inefficient basement area. A new facility, scheduled for completion in early 2019, should resolve these issues. “From the ground up this building is being created the right way,” says Vincent A. Myers, AIA and principal of DI Group Architecture. “The new two-story police department starts with energy-efficient Superior Walls® XiTM Wall panels. These are very ‘green’ products that were created locally in Millville, N.J. in a controlled environment. “The uniformity, structural strength and consistency of the precast concrete panels are all features that will serve this project well.” Myers and his team, located in New Brunswick, N.J., designed the 52,697-square-foot structure that will be located on the corner of East Plum and North 6th Streets, directly across from... ABC’S BEEF WITH ROSEANNE BARR IS PHONY

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the firing of Roseanne Barr from ABC-TV: Roseanne Barr has been making vile comments for years, so why—all of a sudden—has she crossed the line? In 1990, when she grabbed her crotch, spit on the ground, and gave a screeching rendition of our national anthem at a baseball game, the cultural elites who now hate her were fine with her stunt. It’s not America bashing they despise—it’s racism. It sure isn’t anti-Catholicism that bothers them, either. Now that the media are rediscovering some of Barr’s past bigoted statements, they seem to be unaware of, or just don’t care about, her anti-Catholic bigotry. In 2012, Barr said that Catholic employers should include psychiatric coverage for the children of women workers because the kids “might get molested by Catholic priests.” Two years earlier she said, “I am starting to think that any parent who... Letters to the Editor: PAY UP BOB

When the Senate Ethics Committee severely admonished disgraced Senator Bob Menendez for his bribery scandal, they demanded that he pay back the bribes he accepted from convicted felon Salomon Melgen. Menendez has resisted, claiming he already paid Melgen back, and the committee was just unaware. But Politico’s New Jersey Playbook notes that he has actually paid back only a fraction of the bribes, reimbursing Melgen for two private jet flights, with the Senate Democrats’ campaign arm reimbursing him for a third. But according to the Department of Justice, Menendez accepted many more flights, as well as a Paris hotel stay, a wedding at a tropical resort and several stays at Melgen’s villa in the Dominican Republic. So when will Menendez pay back the rest of his bribes? When Is Insurance Not Really Insurance? When You Need Pricey Dental Care

Photos by Heidi de Marco I’m 61 years old and a San Francisco homeowner with an academic position at the University of California-Berkeley, which provides me with comprehensive health insurance. Yet, to afford the more than $50,000 in out-of-pocket expenses required for the restorative dental work I’ve needed in the past 20 years, I’ve had to rely on handouts — from my mom. This was how I learned all about the Great Divide between medicine and dentistry — especially in how treatment is paid for, or mostly not paid for, by insurers. Many Americans with serious dental illness find out the same way: sticker shock. For millions of Americans — blessed in some measure with good genes and good luck — dental insurance in the USA (for the most part) works pretty well, and they don’t have to think much about it. But people like me learn the hard way... Read more →

Letters to the Ed: Will Stephen Sweeney Sacrifice Jeff Van Drew's Congressional Dreams?

Posted by Alexander Roubian on May 29, 2018 · Regardless of how he votes, there will be no where to hide for Senator Jeff Van Drew when Stephen Sweeney posts those 7+ anti-Second Amendment bills. The New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) has been following Jeff Van Drew’s (D) campaign for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s second congressional district, which covers the southern most portion of our state. Though he’s claimed to be a friend of gun owners, and he’ll point to a few meaningless votes as evidence, his true colors have shown in the Democratic Primary and it’s now safe to “Call BS” on Van Drew. Over the past weeks and months, which included an endorsement from Mike Bloomberg’s radical Moms Demand Action organization, there’s nothing blocking gun owners from seeing the light with Van Drew. If you cannot tell by now that he’s nothing but a political opportunist... Read more →

Meandering w/ Mark Matthews: FEBRUARY 27, 2013 (CNBNewsnet)--Sitting in the Deptford Pizzeria UNOs for a late dinner on Wednesday Night (great gluten free pizza!), and the power went out. Everywhere we could see. The hotels next door. Up the road. And not just a blip, but we were there a good 20 minutes in the dark before putting together the money we needed to get out even while the cash registers were down. I've never really experienced an outage like this on a clear day. Hopefully this is not the result of an accident, and everyone is safe. Twitter users are commenting that it extends thorough the Target shopping center, and up into Runnemede. One twitter user posted their address in Runnemede, which puts them over by the Turnpike Entrance near Bellmawr... at least a mile away and assuming its a contiguous power outage, a lot of homes are in... Monument Placed by Nazis Sits Quietly in Tennessee Cemetery

source Court House News DANIEL JACKSONMay 25, 2018 CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (CN) – There’s little indication from looking at it that a pillar in a cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was erected by representatives of Nazi Germany on the eve of World War II. It bears no swastika. Its inscription in German makes no mention of the Third Reich, a master race or even a message glorifying war, as the Nazis were known to do. Unlike monuments to the Confederacy – many of which were erected decades after the U.S. Civil War – the Nazi German government erected the monument in Chattanooga before the world knew of concentration camps, the Holocaust, blitzkriegs and fire bombings. Members from Nazi Germany’s diplomatic mission to the United States quietly installed the pillar in 1935 to memorialize German prisoners of war who died in America during World War I. It stands in the Chattanooga National Cemetery... Read more →

Abortion Group Launches $5 Million Campaign to Flip the House

Collaborative Correspondent/ Source AMAC The pro-abortion group NARAL is spearheading a $5 million campaign to make sure Democrats retake the majority in the House. The “Pro-Choice Majority Makers” program, which targets Republicans in 19 battleground states who have voted to restrict abortion, is the most expensive campaign the 49-year-old group has ever undertaken. “NARAL was built for this moment. Never before have our rights and freedoms been under greater attack, and never before have we had greater opportunity to fight back and win,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue. The campaign for a “pro-choice majority” will focus on defeating GOP candidates whose pro-life votes have attracted little attention, often because the Senate failed to pass the House bills they voted on. “Voters are shocked when they find out how these guys are voting,” Hogue said. “When you tell them, at the very least it depresses their enthusiasm for supporting...
