DOVER (March 21, 2018) – DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today that major renovations have been completed at the division’s Seaford Boat Ramp, with floating docks replaced and the boat ramp surface repaired as boating and fishing season get underway. The renovations complement LED lighting installed earlier by the Division of Fish & Wildlife to better illuminate the boat ramp and parking lot for safe access and more convenient use by boaters and anglers.

The new floating docks will improve boat launching and boarding, having replaced docks that had lost buoyancy and frequently required other repairs. The ramp’s deteriorating concrete apron also has been replaced, restoring a stable ramp surface and preventing undermining of the boat ramp.

The Seaford Boat Ramp renovations were funded with Delaware recreational fishing license revenues and a Federal Aid in Sportfish Restoration grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Major renovations at the popular boat ramp are the responsibility of the Division of Fish & Wildlife. The ramp is operated in partnership with the City of Seaford, which performs routine site maintenance.

“The Seaford Boat Ramp is a state-of-the art facility with plenty of parking to provide anglers direct access to the Nanticoke River and the river’s excellent fishing for largemouth bass, striped bass, perch, catfish, and a wide variety of other fish species,” said Division of Fish & Wildlife Director David Saveikis.
