Gloucester City Resident Detains Burglar Until Police Arrive; Suspect Needed Medical Care

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (February 26, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--Gloucester City Police and the K-9 unit was Crime report 1summoned to Amon Avenue on February 18 at 11 PM for a reported burglary in progress.

According to the crime report Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo, along with Ptl. Joe Eller responded to a residence on Amon Avenue for a reported burglary in progress.  Upon arrival, it was determined the resident heard a noise in his rear yard and went outside to investigate.  Once outside, the resident found a male suspect stealing property from his rear porch and detained him until officers arrived.  James G. Wilson (27), a resident of the 300 block of Bergen Street, was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglar tools and criminal mischief.  He was transported to an area hospital for treatment before being lodged in Camden County Jail.

In other matters, 

2/15 (6:51 am) Cpl. Bill Lessig was called to the 700 block of N. Broadway for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/15 (7:43 am) Cpl. Bill Lessig was called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a crash involving two vehicles.  One injury was reported.

 

2/15 (7:44 am) Sgt. Bill Eller was called to Rt. 130 at Market Street for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/15 (1:25 pm) Randy M. Carter (23), a resident of Runnemede, was arrested in the 100 block of Sparks Avenue by Ptl. Shea O’Donnell on warrants from Runnemede.  He was lodged in Camden County Jail after failing to post bail.

 

2/15 (7:55 pm) Ptl. George Spingler stopped a car in the 200 block of Middlesex Street resulting in the arrest of the driver, Teron S. Washington (23), a resident of Camden.  He was arrested on warrants from Camden and Little Egg Harbor.  He was additionally charged with possession of CDS (marijuana) and driving on a suspended license before being released on bail.

 

2/16 (5:35 am) Ptl. Greg Coxe responded to a residence on Baynes Avenue for a reported burglary of a vehicle.  Upon arrival, the owner reported he was viewing his surveillance video and observed a male walk up in his driveway and reach into the rear of his truck at approximately 4:29 am.  Further investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest, later that day, of James G. Wilson (27), a resident of the 300 block of Bergen Street.  He was charged with criminal attempt burglary and defiant trespass before being lodged in Camden County Jail.

 

2/16 (7:15 am) A resident of Amon Avenue reported sometime overnight, someone entered her shed in her rear yard.  Nothing was reported missing at the time.

 

2/16 (10:54 pm) James G. Wilson (27), a resident of the 300 block of Bergen Street, was arrested on Broadway at Morris Street by Ptl. Sean Gartland on warrants from Gloucester City and Camden.  He was additionally charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe and turned over to Det. Joe Hopkins as he was a suspect in a car burglary that occurred earlier in the day.

 

2/16 (11:30 am) A resident of the 200 block of Middlesex Street reported sometime overnight, the windshield of her car was smashed.  Detectives are investigating.

 

2/16 (12:10 pm) Ptl. Greg Coxe responded to the 100 block of Market Street for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the (46) year old female resident of Chesilhurst was found unconscious and not breathing.  Ptl. Coxe administered one dose of Naloxone and EMS personnel administered a second dose, neither of which had an effect.  She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/16 (7:37 pm) Ptl. Brittany Pollander was called to Rt. 130 at Market Street for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/16 (7:45 pm) Ptl. Bob Saunders III responded to a room at the Budget Motel on Rt. 130 for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the (30) year old female resident of Woodbury was found unconscious and not breathing.  EMS personnel administered one dose of Naloxone and the female regained consciousness.  She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/17 (12:51 am) Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo responded to Bellmawr to assist with a narcotics search on a traffic stop.  CDS was recovered from the vehicle.

 

2/17 (8:11 am) Ptl. Sean Gartland was called to Holt Logistics for a crash involving two tractor trailers.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/17 (11:23 am) Anthony F. Pettolina (26), a resident of Westville, was arrested on Nicholson Road at Temple Avenue by Ptl. Sean Gartland on warrants from Gloucester City, Camden City and Wildwood Crest.  He was later released on bail.

 

2/17 (12:30 pm) A resident of the 600 block of N. Johnson Blvd. reported she came home and found a male standing on her front porch.  The male immediately walked across the street, got in a car and left the area.  The resident then found her front door to be damaged, as if someone tried to force entry.  No entry was gained to the residence and detectives are investigating.

 

2/17 (10:56 pm) Ptl. Bob Saunders III stopped a car on Broadway at Champion Road for a traffic violation.  During the course of the stop, Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo were called to the scene to conduct a narcotics sniff around the vehicle.  As a result, Ashley R. Mendez (23), a resident of Camden, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS (marijuana) and driving on a suspended license.  She was later released.

 

2/18 (11:01 pm) Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo, along with Ptl. 2/19 (12:06 am) Sgt. Bill Johnson Jr. was called to Johnson Blvd. at Monmouth Street for a crash involving one vehicle.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/19 (7:22 am) A resident of the 800 block of Powell Street reported his vehicle was stolen from the front of his residence sometime overnight. 

 

2/19 (12:36 pm) Ptl. Ben McKinney was called to Rt. 130 at Market Street for a crash involving one vehicle.  No injuries were reported and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver.  Christopher R. Eberhardt (34), a resident of Audubon, was charged with possession of CDS (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe.  He was later released.

 

2/19 (2:47 pm) DSgt. Carl DePoder and Det. Keith O’Donnell observed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in the lot of the Rodeway Inn on Rt. 130.  Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Dominic Phillips (42), a resident of Turnersville.  He was charged with possession of CDS (crystal methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was later released.

 

2/19 (4:06 pm) Ptl. Ben McKinney responded to a room at the Budget Motel on Rt. 130 for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the 54 year old male resident of Lawnside was found unconscious and not breathing.  Ptl. McKinney administered one dose of Naloxone and the male did not regain consciousness. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/20 (8:45 am) Sgt. Jason Flood was called to N. Brown Street at Morris for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/20 (1:50 pm) Det. Keith O’Donnell and DSgt. Carl DePoder stopped a car on Broadway at Morris Street for a traffic violation.  Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Robert G. Mitchell (37), a resident of Sewell.  He was charged with possession of CDS (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringes and driving on a suspended license.  He was later released.

 

2/20 (3:00 pm) Sgt. Jason Flood was called to the intersection of Bertwood and Dukewood Avenues for a hit and run crash that occurred sometime overnight.  The investigation is ongoing.

 

2/20 (2:05 pm) Ptl. Don Fager III was called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a crash involving four vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/20 (3:18 pm) Matthew S. Gray (28), a resident of West Deptford, was arrested on Somerset Street at Atlantic by Det. Joe Hopkins on warrants from Gloucester City, Camden City, Barrington, Clementon and Deptford Twp.  He was additionally charged with possession of CDS (crack cocaine, heroin and prescription medication) and possession of a hypodermic syringe.  He was later released on bail.

 

2/20 (6:18 pm) Robert B. Hemphill (28), a resident of the unit block of S. Burlington Street, was arrested on N. Broadway at King Street by Ptl. Tim Ryder on warrants from Gloucester City and Camden City.  He was later released on bail.

 

2/20 (9:22 pm) Officers responded to the 300 block of Hudson Street for a fight.  During the course of the investigation, a (17) year old male was taken into custody by Ptl. Shea O’Donnell and charged with disorderly conduct.  The male was later released to a parent.

 

2/20 (9:31 pm) Mary A. Brown (50), a resident of the 100 block of N. Willow Street, was arrested on N. Broadway at King Street by Ptl. Tim Ryder on a warrant from Gloucester City.  She was later released on bail.

 

2/20 (9:17 am) Officers responded to a vacant residence in the unit block of S. Sussex Street for a reported burglary that occurred sometime during the previous three days.  Tools were reported stolen and detectives are investigating.

 

2/21 (3:45 pm) Ptl. Bob Saunders III stopped a car on Rt. 130 at Market Street for a traffic violation, resulting with the driver being arrested.  Steven M. Schuda (34), a resident of Bellmawr, was charged with hindering apprehension, after suppling the officer with a false name.  He was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license and later released.

 

2/21 (9:57 pm) Ptl. Blaise O’Donnell and K9 Demo responded to Bellmawr to assist with a narcotics search on a traffic stop.  CDS was recovered from the vehicle.

 

2/22 (6:05 pm) Ptl. Bob Saunders III was called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a crash involving three vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/23 (10:38 am) Ptl. George Spingler stopped a car on Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a traffic violation which resulted with the driver and passenger being arrested.  Terry L. Walton (45), a resident of Hi Nella, was arrested on a warrant from Riverton and additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.  Donell Biggers (47), a resident of Camden, was arrested on a warrant from Camden City.  Both were released on bail.

 

2/23 (11:36 am) Ptl. Ben McKinney was called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a crash involving two vehicles.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/23 (12:54 pm) Ptl. John Bryszewski was called to Holt Logistics for a crash involving two tractor trailers.  No injuries were reported.

 

2/23 (2:17 pm) Ptl. Ben McKinney responded to an apartment at Gloucester Towne for a report of an attempted burglary.  Upon arrival, the resident reported she left her apartment unsecured for a minute and when she returned, she found a woman in her apartment.  The woman then left the apartment and nothing was reported stolen.  Detectives are investigating.

 

2/23 (3:43 pm) Ptl. George Spingler responded to a vacant residence in the 100 block of S. Sussex Street for a found burglary.  Copper pipe was reported stolen from the basement.  Detectives are investigating.

 

2/23 (6:02 pm) Ptl. Mike Calzonetti and K9 Blitz were called to Rt. 130 at Klemm Avenue for a crash involving two vehicles.  One injury was reported.

 

2/24 (3:33 am) Ptl. Shea O’Donnell responded to a room at the Budget Motel for a reported overdose.  Upon arrival, the (54) year old male resident of Franklinville was found unconscious and not breathing.  Ptl. O’Donnell administered two doses of Naloxone and the male regained consciousness.  He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/24 (10:58 am) Steven L. Carr Jr. (26), a resident of the 200 block of Orlando avenue, was arrested on Greenwood Avenue at Park by Ptl. George Spingler on a warrant from Camden City.  He was additionally charged with possession of CDS (heroin) and possession of a hypodermic syringe.  He was later released on bail.

 

2/24 (5:07 pm) Ptl. Shea O’Donnell and Ben McKinney responded to O’Donnell’s Pub for a report of an intoxicated patron who refused to leave.  Upon arrival, the female was irate and refused to leave the bar, after being ordered to do so by the officers.  While the officers were escorting her form the bar, she flopped on the floor and refused to get up.  The female had to be physically removed from the bar.  Sandra M. Tulino (63), a resident of Brooklawn, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and defiant trespass.  She was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.

 

2/25 (11:09 pm) Cpl. Bill Lessig stopped a female on Broadway at Hudson Street for a pedestrian violation and while speaking with the female, she dropped two bags of heroin on the ground.  Heather A. Barrett (28), a resident of the 400 block of Middlesex Street, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS (heroin).  She was also found to have a warrant for her arrest from Camden City.  She was later released on bail.

 

 

In addition, officers made (96) traffic stops, (546) property/business checks and (19) school visits.  Officers made (35) arrests, responded to (17) domestic disputes, impounded (1) abandoned vehicle and managed (574) calls for service between February 15th and February 25th.
