LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CNBNewsnet)--On February 23rd, 2018 at approximately 1318 hours the Lower Township Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash that had just occurred on Seashore Road just south of Tabernacle Road in the Erma section of Lower Township. A multi-agency response was activated with assistance from Erma Fire Department, AtlantiCare Medics, as well as Lower Township Rescue.
Upon arrival to the crash scene Lower Township Police made contact with one vehicle. A red in color Mitsubishi hatchback was observed off of the roadway with heavy front-end damage, airbag deployment, and the driver still inside.
The driver, later identified as Rita M. Tester, a 77 year old female of the North Cape May section of Lower Township was evaluated by rescue personnel and ultimately transported to the hospital for further assessment of minor injuries.
Crash investigation determined the vehicle was traveling South on Seashore Road before leaving the roadway and striking a parked vehicle which then struck another parked vehicle before striking the residence at 636 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ.
The vehicle was towed from the scene after being deemed safe to do so by fire personnel.
Lower Township Code Enforcement was contacted and immediately responded to the crash scene. After investigation, the residence involved was deemed to still be habitable.
Ms. Tester was issued one motor vehicle summons for Careless Driving.
