LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ (January 12, 2018)(CNBNewsnet)--On January 11, 2018 at approximately 2:39 p.m., the Lower Township Police Department investigated a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Route 9 in the area of Carol Avenue, in the Erma section of Lower Township.
A multi-agency response was activated with assistance from the Erma Fire Department, AtlantiCare Medics, as well as Lower Township Rescue. It was reported that three vehicles were involved, with one vehicle sustaining airbag deployment.
Upon police arrival at the crash scene, three vehicles were still in the roadway, which included a red Ford Escape, a white Ford Cargo Van, and a large Box Truck. Lower and Middle Township Police immediately shut down a portion of Route 9, between Shirley Avenue and Church Road, to traffic, during the investigation for safety purposes.
The driver of the Ford Escape, later identified as Brittani M. Roach, a 32 year-old female of the Erma section of Lower Township, was then evaluated by rescue personnel and ultimately transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
The crash investigation determined that the Ford Escape was traveling North on Route 9, behind the other two vehicles, when it struck the Ford Cargo Van from behind, causing the Cargo Van to strike the large Box Truck from behind. Two of the vehicles were towed from the scene, after being deemed safe to do so by fire personnel.
Ms. Roach was issued a motor vehicle summons for NJSA 39:4-97 - Careless Driving.
This crash was investigated by Patrolman Anthony Micciche and Patrolman Adam Hegarty.
