Volunteers from an array of community organizations will work on Monday, January 15 between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM with a common goal this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service to donate time, labor and support to help the Food Bank of South Jersey address the urgent problem of hunger for the 196,000 South Jersey residents who are in need of food assistance.

Volunteer groups expected to participate include Zeta Phi Beta, Congregation M’Kor Shalom, Ballard Spahr LLP, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Lend-a-Hand Committee for the Moorestown Rotary AMP group, FoodCorps, The Perfecting Church, Farmers Insurance, and Associates in Hearing HealthCare.
Volunteers will assist in completing essential tasks to the FBSJ operation including inspecting, sorting, and packaging donated food which will be distributed to those in need through FBSJ’s network of 250 food pantries, community kitchens, and shelters.
The Food Bank of South Jersey was started by a group of dedicated volunteers 33 years ago and continues to thrive due to the goodwill of the thousands of volunteers who support the organization. Volunteerism is crucial to the success of FBSJ and by hosting 85 volunteers on the Day of Service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, they hope to provide a venue for volunteerism, community outreach and citizen action.
