Morning House Fire Displaces Gloucester Township Resident

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (January 12, 2018)(CNBNewsnet--Today, January 12, at approximately 6:01 am, the Gloucester Township Police Department responded for a report of a dwelling fire on Almonesson Road near Blenhein Avenue.

Gloucester Township Police units arrived and observed an active fire from the rear corner of the home. The house was occupied by a single female. The female was safely evacuated by police.

Firefighters from Chews Landing (Station #82), Blackwood (Station #84), Erial (Station #86), Lambs Terrace (Station #85), Glendora (Station #81), and Deptford (Station #93) were on location and quickly suppressed the fire. Gloucester Township EMS assisted with medical treatment of the resident who received a minor burn to her hand.
The resident was displaced by the fire due to the damage to the home. Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) the American Red Cross offered assistance.

Almonesson Road was temporarily closed between the Black Horse Pike and Blenheim Avenue during the fire activty to ensure the safety of the first responders on scene. Almonesson Road has since been reopened.

Preliminary report from the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety is that the cause of the fire appears accidental. This incident is a good reminder to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and ensure that are working properly in the event they are ever needed.
