GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (January 11, 2018)There was a traffic accident on Essex Street near the railroad early this evening. The driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and drove into a house.
Asked about the incident, Gloucester City Police Lt. Steve Burkhardt said, "I don't have all of the information yet, but the driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and nobody was in the house. When I have all of the details, I'll let you know. It's been a busy afternoon."
On Monday, January 8, members of the Gloucester City Fire Department assisted the Westville Fire Department in extracting the driver of a pickup truck who was also in an accident.
According to the report at 8:23 AM January 8th, Squad 51 was called to the 400 block of Broadway in Westville to assist in a vehicle extraction. The accident involved a pickup truck and a NJ Transit bus. Crews worked quickly to remove the trapped occupant from the vehicle.
There was no report of any injuries.

Sunday, January 7 at approximately 1400 hrs Squad 51 provided mutual aid to Collingswood for a report of a heavily involved fire on Sloan ave. As with other fires this week, freezing temperatures made operations more difficult. The Squad company laid about 800ft of supply line to assist in water supply. Due to wires burning companies were put in defensive mode until power could be shut off. Squad 51 helped operate master streams to extinguish the fire. Great job by all. No injuries were reported.
