George William Smith, 77, of Brevard, North Carolina, went home to be with his
Lord and Savior on December 27, 2017; surrounded by family and friends, following a short illness.
George was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 8, 1940 to George William Smith Sr. and Evelyn Mary Smith (Quinn). A former resident of Gloucester City, NJ, he graduated from Gloucester City High School in 1960.
George was married to Barbara A. Smith (Jones) on September 10, 1960; they were married 57 years.
George was the owner of Superior Pizza in Westville, New Jersey for several years before he retired from General Electric. After retiring from General Electric, he and his wife Barbara moved to Ft. Myers, Florida and owned Alpha Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning with their son Brian. Upon his passing, George resided in Brevard, North Carolina with his wife Barbara. George fervently studied Christian apologetics and was passionate about spreading the Gospel to future generations.
George was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Smith. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Barbara Tumolo and husband Bruce, and son Brian Smith and wife Melissa. He is also survived by his granddaughters Stephanie and Amanda; grandsons Shawn, Gavin, Andrew, Dylan and Shane; brother Edward Smith; and sister Gail Kay. Honoring his wishes, no funeral services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in his name to Brevard Wesleyan Church, 583 N. Broad Street, Brevard, North Carolina, 28712.
