Camden Breaks Ground on New Joint Health Sciences Center

The Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors celebrated yesterday during a ground-breaking ceremony for the Joint Healthh Sciences Center (JHSC). The event marked the beginning of construction of the 95,000-square foot building, scheduled to be complete in early 2019. The facility represents nearly $70 million in additional investment in the city’s Eds and Meds economy. Kris Kolluri, Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Board of Governors reported that the facility will co-locate essential functions of two four-year institutions, two medical schools and a county college, all with the goal of providing a continuum of research, education and training opportunities. The first of its kind in the state of New Jersey, the JHSC aims to accommodate the growing demand for allied health and medical education positions.
