Washington Township, NJ – Dozens of Kennedy Health supporters were on hand to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ronald McDonald Family Room in the Kennedy University Hospital – Washington Township Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a special event held Thursday, Sept. 28, in the hospital.
Longtime Kennedy Ronald McDonald Family Room Volunteer Catherine Durante, who has donated her time since the room’s establishment, was also recognized.
Established in September 2007, the Ronald McDonald Family Room in the Kennedy University Hospital – Washington Township NICU provides an uplifting setting for families with children in the hospital’s pediatric unit. The founding donors were Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region and the family of Nicholas Sayles, in his memory. Sayles, a aspiring pediatrician, was a member of UMDNJ-SOM medical school class of 2006.
Kennedy’s NICU serves some 175 families each year, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room helps provide a little extra comfort to families while their child receives expert, high-level medical care at Kennedy.
